FAQs

Who are Theatre Tickets Direct?
Theatre Tickets direct are an independent theatre agency selling half price, discounted and full price tickets for London theatres, as well as dinner and theatre packages and London attractions. Theatre Tickets Direct is an official agent and members of STAR. STAR is a self-regulatory body operating within guidelines supported by, amongst others, the Office of Fair Trading, the British Tourist Authority, the London Tourist Board, Westminster Council and the Society of London Theatre.

What are your office hours?
Normal office hours are Monday to Saturday between 10am-6pm. However, if your query is urgent and you would like to contact us outside office hours, please email us on info@theatreticketsdirect.co.uk

Can I book over the phone with you?
Yes, you can. If you cannot find the tickets on our website it does not always mean they are sold out. To check availability or discuss your special requests please call us within the office hours.

Which payment cards do you accept?
We accept Visa, Mastercard, Maestro and Switch Cards

Is it safe to pay with my credit card when booking with you?
Theatre Tickets Direct use the latest secure SSL processing, which encrypts all of your personal information, including credit card number, name, and address, so that it cannot be misused or read as the information travels over the Internet.

What is face value and selling price of the ticket?
Face value of the ticket is the price set by the Producers of the show or in other words theatre price. Selling price of the ticket incurs booking fee and VAT. When booking full price shows selling price will be higher than the face value, whereas discounted shows will have lower price than the theatre itself. Face value and selling price are clearly laid out when you select the type of ticket you require.

Why are some shows discounted or half price while others remain full price?
It depends on a few factors, such as popularity of the show, size of the theatre, how long the show has been running for. It is up to the producers of any show to decide if and how much discount we will receive. If the show is a sell out it is highly unlikely you can obtain discounted or half price tickets for it.

Do you sell discounted or half price tickets on all the prices at the theatre?
Some shows have only one discounted price and it is normally for the best available seats. Others give a choice depending on the seating area or face value of the ticket and offer several different discounts.

What service charges are included when booking tickets?
All prices are inclusive of VAT, all bookings may incur an additional booking fee, credit card handling fee and a post and packaging charge.

What are stalls, dress circle or upper circle?
Stalls or Orchestra Stalls are the ground floor seats on the same level as stage. Dress Circle (called sometimes Royal Circle or Mezzanine) are the first tier seats just above the stalls. Most of the seats in the stalls and dress circle are considered as the best seats in the house. Upper Circle (Grand Circle) is the second level up. Some of the bigger theatres have a Balcony as well positioned on the third level up.

What is a “matinee” performance?
A matinee is an early afternoon performance, normally at 2.30pm or 3pm although some shows have later matinees at 5pm. Most of the shows have one matinee midweek and one on Saturday.

What does restricted view mean?
Restricted view means that there is an obstruction in the line of viewing to the stage. It can be either a pole, side view seat (when you miss a small percentage of the side stage) or when you miss the top of the stage due to the overhang from the higher tier of the theatre. All restricted view seats are clearly marked on our website when you book them.

Can I collect the tickets at the theatre or can they be posted?
You have an option of theatre box office collection or tickets being posted to you for an additional charge if the booking was made at least 7 working days (UK customers) prior to the performance. Tickets need to be booked at least 3 weeks in advance to be posted outside UK.  You can collect your tickets from pre-paid counter on the day of the show half an hour before the performance.

What ID do I need when collecting the tickets at the venue?
Tickets are booked under your name. You should have your ID card (driving licence, passport etc.) when collecting them.

I requested tickets to be mailed but have not yet received them. What should I do?
Very occasionally tickets get lost in post. If you haven’t received your tickets please contact us and we will arrange for you to collect them at the theatre box office on the day of the performance.

What if I lost my tickets?
As with the tickets lost in post, original tickets will become invalid and arrangements will be made for you to collect reissued tickets from the theatre on the day of the show.

Is there a dress code for London theatres?
No dress code is required

What do I do if I have a special request e.g. aisle seat?
Please call our ticket hotline number on 0208 429 7456 or email us on info@theatreticketsdirect.co.uk and one of our advisors will try to help you.

Are there any age restrictions for performances?
Children of 3 years of age and older are allowed into the theatres. All children need a separate ticket. Some shows are not suitable for children, and the age restriction will be indicated on the show information page.

Is there any discount for children, students or OAPs?
Sadly, there are no reductions for children, students or OAPs unless they are part of a larger group (usually 12+) and qualify for a group booking discount.

Do you do group booking discount?
Group booking discount is valid on most performances Monday – Thursday. Groups of 12 people and more normally qualify for a discount but it can vary depending on the theatre. Groups of Children and Students get normally cheaper rates. Please contact us by filling in group booking request form to find out availability and prices.

What time should I arrive at the theatre?
The door opens half an hour prior to the performance.

Can I take photographs during the show?
No video cameras, cameras or recording devices are allowed in any theatres.

Will I be admitted inside if I arrive after the show has started?
Most of the theatres have strictly no latecomers admittance policy. If you are late you might be asked to wait until the intermission.

Do the theatres have wheelchair access?
Most London theatres offer facilities for the disabled. Wheelchair access seats can only be purchased directly from the theatre.

Do they have induction loops for the hard of hearing?
Most of the theatres do. Please email us on info@theatreticketsdirect.co.uk or call  0208 429 7456 if you require more information.

Can I cancel or change my tickets?
Because of the rules set down by the producers, promoters and venues that host our events, we are unable to offer exchanges or refunds for event tickets.

What if the show is cancelled?
A full refund will be given or possibility to exchange the tickets for other date. We will do our very best to contact you beforehand and as soon as we are made aware of any such cancellation.
