Hot on the heels of Sheila Hancock''s comments that musicals should be more appreciated by the theatre industry, another insider has spoken out in their favour.

Michael Simkins - star of West End hits such as Mamma Mia! and Chicago - said in an article for the Telegraph that they are good for the soul.
He pointed out that the message of triumph over adversity contained in a musical is likely to give you a lift, no matter how tired you may be or how many problems you have.
"They translate human emotion into primary colours," Mr Simkins enthused.
He concluded by pointing out that the public cannot fail to love a story in which a character experiences a series of catastrophes before everything turns out right and everyone has a party.
Mr Simkins has appeared in more than 1,000 performances of Mamma Mia!, which has now been seen by some 40 million people worldwide.
Its website describes it as "the ultimate feel-good show".
