The Jetty is a temporary platform for immersive performance on the River Thames, framed by the O2, Emirates Air Line and Ravensbourne College. The site is being developed alongside NOW Gallery, a new space for art and design. A dynamic programme of pop ups celebrating Greenwich Peninsula will be curated by Kaia. The Jetty was designed as a coaling jetty to receive and unload coal to fuel Blackwall Point power station. The power station was built by the Blackheath and Greenwich Electric Light Co and replaced the East Greenwich Tide Mill as the first electrical power station to supply the local community. The company’s name was changed to the South Metropolitan Electric Light and Power Company Ltd.
