Othello at the National 2022

We just love a Shakespeare play and what better way is there to plan for Autumn than booking a trip to the National!

From the 23rd of November 2022 to the 21 January 2023, you can catch Othello in the Lyttelton Theatre. General bookings start from the 21st of July. We can’t think of anything better than planning our Autumn theatre trips during the hottest months of the year. It's certainly one way to get through the British heatwave season.

We all have our favourite Shakespeare plays and for us, this is definitely in the top leagues. The deception of Iago from start to finish is something that we all recognise and perhaps have witnessed in life ourselves. The love of Desdemona and Othello, another theme that we can all hopefully say has pulled on our heartstrings.

The beauty that comes from the darkest of places and the deepest of human emotions will forever keep Othello on our must-watch over and over again Shakespeare plays list.

Giles Terera will be playing Othello. Terera is probably best known for his role-playing Aaron Burr in Hamilton. Rosy McEwan will play Desdemona and Paul Hilton will play Iago!

Amazingly Clint Dyer will direct Othello, marking this the first time Othello is directed at the National by a person of colour!

We cannot wait to be blown away by the production with its amazing star performers and director.

Seeing Desdemona's words “Moor, she was chaste; she loved thee, cruel Moor; So, come my soul to bliss, as I speak true; So, speaking as I think, I die, I die” on stage in the hands of great talent will be a highlight of the piece for us. The death scene is always so emotionally charged and this play will surely be no different.
