Magical Musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Takes Flight on New Tour

A brand-new tour of the beloved musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is set to take off in April of next year.

This extraordinary production, featuring captivating music and lyrics crafted by Richard M Sherman and Robert B Sherman, the brilliant minds behind Mary Poppins, draws inspiration from the iconic 1968 film and has been skillfully adapted by Jeremy Sams. Originally gracing the stages of the West End in 2002, the show has become a fan favorite. Its enchanting score includes timeless melodies such as "Truly Scrumptious," "Toot Sweets," "Hushabye Mountain," and the Academy Award-nominated title song.

The heartwarming tale unravels the extraordinary adventures of a magical flying automobile and an unexpected journey undertaken by a family to a peculiar fictional European nation, where innocent children are unjustly captured by a wicked childcatcher.

Under the expert direction of Thom Southerland, known for his remarkable work on Titanic and Parade, and with stunning choreography by Karen Bruce, recognized for her contributions to BBC's Strictly Come Dancing and The Bodyguard, this fresh production promises to be a visual spectacle. The imaginative sets and costumes, meticulously designed by Morgan Large, acclaimed for his work on Newsies and Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat, are sure to transport audiences to a world of wonder.

The enchantment doesn't end there. The intricate orchestrations and musical supervision by George Dyer, renowned for his contributions to The Wizard of Oz, Annie, and Billy Elliot, further elevate the musical experience. The casting for this extraordinary production is handled by the talented Debbie O'Brien.

The eagerly anticipated tour will kick off at the Mayflower Southampton on April 30, 2024, and run until May 12, 2024. Following this, it will visit a range of captivating locations including Woking, Wimbledon, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Aberdeen, Bromley, Milton Keynes, Belfast, Torquay, Llandudno, Glasgow, Inverness, Norwich, Oxford, Liverpool, Stoke, Leicester, Eastbourne, and Bournemouth. Audiences across the country will have the opportunity to experience the magic of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang firsthand.
