A special one-night-only concert version of Acorn Antiques The Musical is set to play London’s Shaftesbury Theatre on Sunday 9 November 2025, marking the 10th anniversary of Hope Mill Theatre.
The concert follows performances at Manchester Opera House on 2 November and an additional newly added date on 16 November at 5pm, due to demand.
Directed by Joseph Houston and William Whelton of Hope Mill Theatre, with musical supervision by Nigel Lilley and choreography by Sammy Murray, the event will raise funds for Hope Mill’s Outreach programme. Proceeds will help support the Hope Mill Theatre School and contribute to a new community space within the venue.
Written by the late Victoria Wood, Acorn Antiques The Musical is a hilarious parody based on her iconic sketches from the television series Victoria Wood As Seen on TV. Set in the fictional town of Manchesterford, the story centres on sisters Miss Babs and Miss Berta, who run their antique shop alongside tea lady Mrs Overall and other eccentric characters.
Trouble brews when property developers threaten to replace their quaint high street with coffee bars and lingerie shops, forcing the group to confront financial troubles, lost wills, and surprising family revelations—including a missing triplet.
The original production premiered in the West End in 2005, directed by Trevor Nunn with choreography by Stephen Mear.
Casting for the 2025 concert will be announced soon. This special performance promises a night of comedy and nostalgia, while supporting vital community arts initiatives.
