Sheridan Smith Leads Woman In Mind Cast

Published Fri, 10 October 2025

The full cast has been revealed for the upcoming West End revival of Alan Ayckbourn’s Woman in Mind, which stars Sheridan Smith in the lead role. Performances begin on 9 December 2025 and run until 28 February 2026 at the Duke of York’s Theatre.

This darkly comic psychological play follows Susan, a woman whose life spirals into confusion after a head injury causes her to see two versions of reality: one ordinary and one dreamlike. As these two worlds begin to merge, Susan’s sense of what is real starts to unravel, creating a moving and unsettling portrait of the human mind.

Joining Sheridan Smith is comedian Romesh Ranganathan, who makes his West End debut as Bill. He has described the experience as both exciting and terrifying, and audiences will be eager to see him in a very different light from his usual comic work. The cast also includes Louise Brealey as Muriel, Tim McMullan as Gerald, Sule Rimi as Andy, Chris Jenks as Tony, Safia Oakley-Green as Lucy, Taylor Uttley as Rick, and Katie Buchholz and Michael Woolfitt in supporting roles.

The production will be directed by Michael Longhurst, with set and costume design by Soutra Gilmour, lighting by Lee Curran, and sound by Paul Arditti. Casting is by Jim Carnahan and Liz Fraser.

Following its West End run, Woman in Mind will tour to Sunderland from 4 to 7 March 2026 and Glasgow from 10 to 14 March 2026.

This revival promises to be one of the highlights of the upcoming theatre season, combining Ayckbourn’s sharp writing with Sheridan Smith’s powerful stage presence and an exciting new cast.
