Alexandra Burke has been cast in the West End premiere of I’m Every Woman: The Chaka Khan Musical, stepping into the role of music icon Chaka Khan for the limited London season. The production is set to play at the Peacock Theatre from 5 March to 28 March 2026.
Burke, who rose to fame after winning The X Factor and has since established herself in major stage roles including Sister Act and The Bodyguard, described her casting as a “dream role.” She reflected on her journey: “Almost 17 years ago … I sang Chaka Khan for my very first non-televised audition. To think I’d be playing her on the West End is beyond my wildest dreams.”
The musical traces the life and career of Chaka Khan—a multi-platinum artist whose hits like I Feel For You, Ain’t Nobody, and Tell Me Something Good helped define soul, funk and R&B. The story not only celebrates her musical achievements but also explores her role as a working mother and advocate, presenting a full portrait of her influence in music and culture.
Joining Burke are performers including Jordan Frazier as alternate Chaka Khan, Paige Peddie as Taka Boom, Chanice Alexander-Burnett as Tammy Michelle/Paulette McWilliams, and a large supporting ensemble featuring names such as Maryla Abraham, Chrissie Bhima, Sophie Earl and Duane-Lamonte O’Garro. The creative team features Nia T. Hill (book), Racky Plews (direction), Ebony Clarke (choreography), Mark Crossland (musical supervision), and Sara Perks (set design).
This world-premiere production brings a stage full of energy, classic songs and powerful storytelling to London’s West End, offering fans of Chaka Khan and musical theatre alike a vibrant and inspiring live experience.
