The highly anticipated West End revival of The Cherry Orchard has announced further casting ahead of its autumn opening at the Harold Pinter Theatre. Leading the production alongside Kristin Scott Thomas is acclaimed actor Stephen Mangan, with performances beginning on 3 October 2026 and running until 9 January 2027.
One of Anton Chekhov’s greatest plays, The Cherry Orchard is a timeless drama exploring family, memory, change and the end of an era. The story follows Lyubov Ranevskaya, played by Olivier Award winner Kristin Scott Thomas, as she returns to her childhood estate after years away. Faced with mounting debts and the possible loss of the family’s beloved cherry orchard, she and her relatives must confront a rapidly changing world and decide whether to hold on to the past or embrace the future.
Stephen Mangan, known for his acclaimed performances in The Split, Episodes and The Birthday Party, takes on the pivotal role of Lopakhin, a successful businessman whose vision for the estate challenges the family's traditions. The production reunites Mangan with director Ian Rickson, following their successful collaboration on The Birthday Party.
Joining them is an outstanding supporting cast including Ruby Bentall as Sharlotta, Megan Cusack as Dunyasha, Karl Johnson as Firs, Noof Ousellam as Yasha, Nadia Parkes as Anya, Jack Riddiford as Trofimov, Vinette Robinson as Varya, Shubham Saraf as Yepikhodov and Peter Wight as Gaev.
The creative team features director Ian Rickson, set designer Chloe Lamford, lighting designer Bruno Poet and movement director Shelley Maxwell, promising a visually striking new interpretation of Chekhov's final masterpiece.
With an exceptional cast, an award-winning creative team and one of theatre's most celebrated dramas at its heart, The Cherry Orchard is set to be one of the must-see West End plays of the 2026 theatre season. Theatre lovers looking to experience this acclaimed revival should book The Cherry Orchard London tickets early, as demand is expected to be high.
