Death Note – The Musical Opens in London This Summer

The global manga phenomenon Death Note is coming to the London stage in a major new production at the Barbican Theatre. Playing for only 50 performances from 30 July to 12 September 2026, Death Note – The Musical is set to become one of London’s most talked-about theatrical events of the summer.
Based on the bestselling manga series by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, Death Note has sold more than 30 million copies worldwide and inspired hugely successful anime, film and television adaptations.
The story follows brilliant student Light Yagami, who discovers a mysterious notebook with a terrifying power: anyone whose name is written inside it will die. Light initially uses the Death Note to punish criminals and create what he considers a better world. However, his actions soon attract the attention of L, an exceptionally intelligent and secretive detective determined to expose his identity.
The London production stars Xander Pang as Light Yagami and Colin Ryan as L. Audiences can expect an electrifying musical score by Tony, Grammy and Emmy-nominated composer Frank Wildhorn, with lyrics by Jack Murphy and a book by Ivan Menchell. The production has been newly reimagined for London following successful seasons in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan.
Death Note – The Musical tickets are now available through Theatre Tickets Direct, with prices starting from just £32. Special prices are available for all performances from 3 to 15 August and from 31 August to 10 September 2026 when booked by 2 August, subject to availability.
Performances take place at the Barbican Theatre, with evening shows at 7.30pm and selected Thursday and Saturday matinees at 2.30pm. The running time is approximately two hours and 20 minutes, including an interval, and the recommended minimum age is 12.
