London theatre has plenty of new arrivals to brighten the final weeks of summer, spanning family adventures, sharp comedy, classic drama and award-winning musicals.
From 5 August, audiences can tumble down the rabbit hole with Alice in Wonderland at Soho Theatre Walthamstow. Younger theatregoers can also join the energetic fun of Be Like Blippi at The Arts at Marble Arch, featuring music, dancing and audience participation.
Jules Verne’s thrilling Around the World in 80 Days races into St Paul’s Church on 11 August. A day later, Mike Leigh’s Abigail’s Party brings its painfully funny portrait of suburban ambition, strained relationships and disastrous hospitality to the Harold Pinter Theatre.
The comedy continues at Charing Cross Theatre, where Jeeves Takes Charge arrives on 13 August. The same date brings Kaspar: Prince of Cats to St Paul’s Church, while Shakespeare’s Globe welcomes the romance, disguises and mistaken identities of As You Like It from 14 August.
