Martin Guerre Cast Announced For London Return

The full cast has been revealed for the highly anticipated return of Martin Guerre, which comes to The Old Vic for a strictly limited season from 1 to 31 October 2026.

Created by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg, the award-winning team behind Les Misérables and Miss Saigon, Martin Guerre returns to London 30 years after its original West End premiere. This completely reimagined production will be directed by Matthew Warchus and presented in an immersive, semi-staged, in-the-round format.

The cast will be led by Liv Andrusier as Bertrande, with Alex James-Hatton and Shane O’Riordan appearing as Martin. Caroline Sheen takes the role of Madame de Rols, alongside Colin Ryan as Benoit, Mathew Craig as Pierre, Adam Pearce as Father Dominic and Aaron Lee Lambert as the Judge.

Completing the company are Monique Ashe-Palmer, Mali Wen Davies, Daniel Forrester, Grace Galloway, Chris Jenkins, Gabriella Stylianou, Barney Wilkinson, Dan Hand, Bethan Louise Honer, Eli McFarland, Oliver Payne, Becca Francis and Nathaniel Purnell.

Inspired by an extraordinary true story, Martin Guerre is set in 16th-century France. A young man disappears from his village, abandoning his wife and home. Years later, someone claiming to be Martin returns, but doubts surrounding his identity lead to suspicion, division and a dramatic trial.

The musical has been extensively reworked for its London revival, with new songs, revised lyrics and fresh folk-influenced orchestrations. Rather than recreating the original production, this intimate staging will place the story, performances and celebrated score at the centre of the experience.

With performances scheduled for only one month, demand for Martin Guerre tickets in London is expected to be high. Audiences can book tickets now to see this landmark musical return to the London stage.
