Beetlejuice The Musical Announces Early West End Closure

Published Fri, 4 September 2026

Beetlejuice The Musical has announced that it will close earlier than originally planned at London’s Prince Edward Theatre. The production will now play its final West End performance on 2 January 2027, rather than continuing into spring.

Inspired by Tim Burton’s much-loved 1988 film, the musical follows unusual teenager Lydia Deetz as she moves into a new home with her father. She soon discovers that the property is already occupied by Adam and Barbara Maitland, a recently deceased couple struggling to adjust to the afterlife.

When Lydia summons the outrageous ghost Beetlejuice, his chaotic plans quickly spiral out of control. The resulting story combines supernatural comedy, spectacular staging and energetic musical numbers with a surprisingly touching exploration of grief, family and belonging.

The London production arrived in the West End following three Broadway engagements and an extensive North American tour. It features music and lyrics by Eddie Perfect, with a book by Scott Brown and Anthony King. Tony Award-winning director Alex Timbers directs the production.

David Fynn leads the West End cast as Beetlejuice, with Tom Xander appearing as the alternate Beetlejuice. Hannah Nordberg plays Lydia Deetz, while Daisy Harrison performs as the alternate Lydia. David Hunter and Chelsea Halfpenny star as the ghostly couple Adam and Barbara Maitland, alongside Alasdair Harvey as Lydia’s father, Charles Deetz.

Summer Strallen continues in the role of Delia until 2 November, after which Aimie Atkinson returns to the production. The cast also includes Chasity Crisp, Richard Frame, Irvine Iqbal, Rachel Macdougall and Vanessa Aurora Sierra.

With the final performance now confirmed, audiences have only a limited number of months left to experience Beetlejuice in London. Anyone hoping to enter its strange and mischievous world should book Beetlejuice theatre tickets before the ghost with the most disappears from the West End.
