Golden Globe-winning actress Teri Hatcher will take over the role of Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada at London’s Dominion Theatre from Tuesday 20 October 2026.
Best known for playing Susan Mayer in Desperate Housewives and Lois Lane in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Hatcher will become the latest actress to step into the immaculate designer heels of Runway’s formidable editor-in-chief.
Vanessa Williams, who has played Miranda Priestly in the West End production, will give her final performance on 19 September 2026. Debbie Kurup will then take over the role for a limited period, appearing as Miranda from 21 September until 17 October, before Hatcher begins her run.
Hatcher described Miranda as intelligent, commanding and capable of putting people in their place while remaining funny. She said she was delighted to join the West End production and looked forward to embracing the character’s sharp wit, fierce ambition and unmistakable style.
Although internationally recognised for her television work, Hatcher also has musical theatre experience. She made her musical theatre debut as Sally Bowles in the national tour of Sam Mendes’ acclaimed revival of Cabaret. More recently, she received praise for playing Morticia Addams in The Addams Family.
Her arrival promises a fresh interpretation of one of modern film and theatre’s most recognisable characters. Miranda’s confidence, cutting dialogue and commanding presence make the role an exciting fit for an actress known for portraying strong and memorable women.
The Devil Wears Prada follows aspiring journalist Andy Sachs as she begins working for Miranda at the prestigious Runway magazine. The musical features an original score by Elton John and is based on Lauren Weisberger’s bestselling novel and the celebrated film.
Teri Hatcher joins The Devil Wears Prada at the Dominion Theatre from 20 October 2026, with the production currently booking until 25 September 2027.
