Dog Man: The Musical will return for a UK tour in 2027, including a summer run at London’s Southbank Centre from 29 July to 15 August.
Following its 2026 UK performances, the Roast Productions show will visit more than 20 theatres across the country, bringing Dav Pilkey’s much-loved comic-book characters to the stage through lively songs, physical comedy and an adventure filled with mischief.
The story begins with George and Harold, two ten-year-old best friends whose enthusiasm for creating comics inspires them to write a musical. Their leading character is Dog Man, a hero with a dog’s head and a policeman’s body, whose dedication to catching criminals is matched by his fondness for chewing furniture.
As Dog Man sets out to stop the villainous cat Petey, the action combines crime-fighting escapades with a story about friendship, kindness and trying to do the right thing.
Returning cast members announced for the 2027 tour include Vanessa Dumatey as Flippy and Sam Kipling as Petey. Shannon Bourne returns as cover for Flippy and Li’l Petey, while Robert Wilkes will cover Dog Man and Petey.
The musical has a book and lyrics by Kevin Del Aguila, with music by Brad Alexander. Jen Wineman directs and choreographs the production. The creative team also features scenic designer Timothy R. Mackabee, costume designer Heidi Leigh Hanson, lighting designer David Lander and orchestrator Lloyd Kikoler, alongside musical director Paul Herbert and associate director Alison Pollard.
Since its off-Broadway debut at the Lucille Lortel Theatre in June 2019, Dog Man: The Musical has continued to find new audiences, returning to New York at New World Stages in March 2023.
Pilkey’s original graphic novels have sold more than 70 million copies worldwide and have been translated into 48 languages. The characters also reached cinema audiences in DreamWorks’ 2025 animated adaptation.
For families planning a London theatre trip during the 2027 summer holidays, the Southbank Centre engagement offers a chance to see the page-to-stage adventure in the capital.
