Funny, uplifting and full of warmth, Pride brings an extraordinary true story of friendship, solidarity and community to the stage. Based on the much-loved 2014 film, this brand-new musical follows the remarkable alliance between LGBTQ+ activists and striking Welsh miners in 1980s Britain. The production is currently playing to packed houses at the National Theatre, where it has completely sold out.
Set in summer 1984, Pride tells the true story of a group of LGBTQ+ activists who decide to support striking miners during the national miners' strike.
Led by 24-year-old activist Mark Ashton, the group forms Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners (LGSM), raising money and building a relationship with a small mining community in South Wales. What begins as an unlikely partnership between two very different groups gradually develops into a powerful friendship, as both communities discover that they have more in common than they first imagined.
At its heart, Pride is a musical about solidarity, activism and the power of people coming together. It is also a celebration of friendship, community and the unexpected connections that can change people's lives.

London Theatre Company was founded by Nicholas Hytner and Nick Starr on leaving the National Theatre after 12 years. It focuses on the commissioning and production of new shows, as well as staging the occasional classic.
The Bridge is its home, a new 900-seat adaptable auditorium designed to answer the needs of contemporary audiences and theatre-makers and is capable of responding to shows with different formats (end-stage, thrust-stage and promenade). The venue won the Royal Institute of British Architecture London Award 2018 and is the first wholly new theatre of scale to be added to London’s commercial theatre sector in 80 years. The Bridge was designed by Steve Tompkins and Roger Watts of Haworth Tompkins Architects (winner of the 2014 Stirling Prize).
